Continually Being Born A New
Merry Christmas Awesome One. Unity’s message and I believe what Jesus’ message would be during the Christmas Season is, “The Love of Christ is born a new within you. In this moment are you aware of Its prompting? Peace Be Still and Know I Am. Feel It.” Well I must say, those are really my words describing what I feel are our joint message. Powerful and to the point and the feeling does indeed create an amazing sense of being during the Christmas Season, but how do we go about extending that feeling into the rest of the year. I know we as a culture we set intentions in our New Year’s Resolution to do all the things we aspire to achieve, but why can we not just take the feeling we have created into the cradle of our heart and walk into the New Year with Love’s Presence emanating from our very being. As I thought about what I would write in this article, and as I looked at the picture I took on the back of the calendar, this idea continues to come to me. “The Love of Christ is born a new within me and you. Am I aware of it, in this moment now?”
Are we bold enough to claim it and then go about being the Love of Christ in expression, even in times, that aren’t so comfortable in expressing it? This is a very powerful message, but can we walk our talk? You know it is so easy to get caught up in the darkness of the world and allow it to guide our words and thoughts, as opposed to stepping into the creative vortex and allowing Love and Wisdom to guide us, which is the message of the Christmas Story and the message that Jesus and all true spiritual teachers espouse.
With this thought in mind, I am trying to step in the creative vortex and hold that vision, as I contemplate the message for the first part 2019. One of the thoughts that keeps coming back to me is the Tree of Life and it’s twelve fruits; which are taught in Unity, Healing Touch and a number of other Spiritual and Holistic Practices. How can we go about being aware of the Tree of Life that exist within us and opening up and energizing the 12 energy centers, so we can go about our days being totally aware that Love of Christ is continually being born anew within us?
Jesus actually taught this? Yeah, he did, at least that is what is recorded in the Aramaic translation of the conversation he had with Nicodemus in the third chapter of the Gospel of John, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born a new… I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, ‘You must be born from a new.’ The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.”
“We must be born of water and of spirit.” What? In understanding the spiritual teachings of the Essenes of Jesus’ time, we know that water is the cleansing energy of forgiveness, symbolized in Baptism as the healing renewing life washing over us. Being in the spirit of continual forgiveness allows us to let go of what was and what holds back, so we might step into an awareness of Spirit, of the Divine Breath of Life, filling and feeling us in each moment. When we can make this a part of our daily life, we are empowered to enter into an awareness of the kingdom of God, just as Jesus said.
I don’t know about you, but I want to live in an awareness of the Kingdom of Heaven in all I do! Which is why I hung, that picture that serves as the cover of my book over my bed. When I took that picture several years ago, it was one of the most amazing days of my life. It is also why I have chosen to follow this message as we enter the new year! In developing the practice of being born of water and spirit, we will step into an entirely new reality. Please join me in the process.
Namaste, I see that Light in You Rev. Doc. Patrick
