A New Earth

Author Eckhart Tolle

This book is for self-improvement and written in narrative form. It encourages us to live life in the present in efforts to create a happier, more fulfilling life without focusing on material possessions. This is accomplished by changing our thought processes. The author firmly believes this can facilitate a more enlightened, and rich world through a shift in global consciousness.

The author explains that we will never find the solutions to a crazy life through religion, but must look to new ideas and thought patterns that lead us to enjoyment as well as acceptance. Tolle offers methods by which we can rise above the problems of the world, which Tolle identifies as "inherent dysfunction in humanity". Later chapters of his book discuss the pitfalls of the ego, emotional pain, and the difference between the dream and the dreamer.

Tolle discusses the difference between "knowing yourself and knowing about yourself", which then defines our inner purpose as well as our outer purpose (what we need for our personal improvement vs what gifts we have to offer the world).

It is recommended that we read Tolle's book, The Power of Now, before A New Earth to get a better grasp of the foundation of his approach. Both books are fairly easy reading and with deep spiritual context. Personally, I recommend this book for use in ongoing personal spiritual growth as the principles will require diligence, perseverance. and thoughtful consideration day by day.

NAMASTE!!
