Unity Bookstore Book Review
Many Lives, Many Masters By Brian Weiss
This book is likely considered psychological rather than metaphysical. The early text talks of past lives and the theory of reincarnation. The author claims that proof of past lives is evident in our real life experiences.
Weiss, who is a traditional psychotherapist, had been working with a patient who was experiencing recurrent nightmares and was with high levels of anxiety. As the patient began to recall past life events, Weiss began to uncover the real source of her problems, and solutions began to emerge. The patient was eventually cured of anxiety and nightmares.
Weiss began, at this stage, to write this book, which has become significant in the profession of alternative psychotherapy .Dr. Weiss is steeped in the scientific method and presents information in a scientific format. He has also documented reports from other doctors who have had similar experiences with similar results.
Dr. Weiss' patient outlines her ideas that we are all reborn, some of us several times. She states that a soul is not attached to a gender, nationality, status or religion. She also reports that some people are born wiser than others, as souls carry learning and wisdom forward. Weiss and his patient found that we stay within our soul group. We have been connected to those in our group through many lives.
Weiss and his patient inform us that there are two methods to end the rebirth cycle; (1) sharing of knowledge with others and (2) acceptance or tolerance (even enjoyment) of those at a different vibrational level from us, offering support and encouragement on their path.
We are cautioned, in the text, to check our own vices lest we carry them into another life. If we have debts or wrongs, they must be paid or they will be carried forward. Life never ends and our spirits never die. Time is best measured in lessons learned, not in years passed. We complete our lessons as we pay our debts to others.
This is a fun, heartwarming and easy read that offers opportunity for reflection for anyone open to new ideas and theories. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.
Namaste!
